10 Must Visit Exotic Places in Ooty


Glenmorgan:

“Start, Camera & Action”, the green corridor Glenmorgan is one of the best locations loved by the film makers. Glenmorgan is a village located at a distance of 25 km from Ooty. This place is known for its tea estates which includes one of the oldest tea estates in the region known as the Glenmorgan tea estate.
 

Emerald Dam:

“The Paradise of Lovers”, Emerald dam is located in a region called the silent valley, about 25 km from  Ooty. Mind-blowing scenery, the joining of two water bodies (avalanche and emerald) is a glorious treat for your eyes.


Upperbhavani:

“The Womb of all Dams” also known by the name “Madipumalai” is situated 60 km from Ooty. Located inside the dense surroundings of Mukurthi National Park, Upperbhavani is a must visit place for adventure seekers.
(Note: Mukurthi National Park is well known for its tigers and elephants)


Pine Forest:

The towering pine trees are arranged in a small downhill area and the forest makes for a delightful scenic view and offers an atmosphere of peace and tranquility. The Kamaraj-Sagar Dam, a popular picnic spot, is also visible from the bottom of the hill. It is situated 10 km away from Ooty.


H.P.F. Lake:

“The Silent Paradise”, this lake is one of the outflows of Kamraj Sagar Dam. One of the salient features of this lake is that the shape of the lake depicts map of India. It gets gorgeous at sunrise and sunset. It takes a 15 minutes ride from Ooty to reach this place.

Kinnakorai:

Kinnakorai, the bluest heaven bordering the “God’s Own Country” is situated 60 km away from Ooty. One can’t forget the thrills of the roller coaster ride which the roads of Kinnakorai offers. A must visit place to experience a thrilling ride.


Mudumalai:

The Mudumalai National Park, a Wildlife Sanctuary and a Tiger Reserve, lies on the northwestern side of the Nilgiri Hills which is about 40 km from Ooty. The place is under consideration by the UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. Visit and experience a wide variety of flora and fauna.

Kodamalai:

“The Mesmerizing Mountain”, Kodamalai is one of the highest points in the region. It is well known for its scenic beauty. The dazzling view of plains from the top instantly tranquilizes your mind. 


Porthi View:

Porthimund dam is one among the breathtaking places in Nilgiris which is located at a distance of 24 km from Ooty. You will be definitely amazed at nature’s creativity at this place. 


Kodanadu:

The “Plantation Country” Kodanadu is one of the most magnificent view points in India, where the view of Bavani Sagar dam in the plains looks like the trail of a snake. Bordering Karnataka, Kodanadu is well known for its estates. One can enjoy the panoramic scenic beauty here. It is 40 km away from Ooty.
